THE BETTER BUNK
Frequently asked questions
General
Installation Directions
Preparation:
1. Thoroughly clean all slats with the included alcohol swabs. Very important step!
2. Allow slats to dry completely - any moisture will prevent proper adhesion
Installing Velcro:
1. The adhesive velcro provided will be longer than your bunk cover.
2. Choose the first and last slat you’ll be attaching to (these typically give the most secure anchor points).
3. Center the velcro along the slats, ensuring equal length at both ends.
4. We send 92" strips, which leaves 16" extra total—about 9" on each side—specifically for wrapping. DO NOT CUT EXTRA OFF!
5. Wrap to form a loop:
6. Wrap the extra length around the slat and bring it back onto itself.
7. The sticky sides should touch each other so the Velcro forms a closed loop around the slat.
8. Press firmly where the sticky sides meet to lock the loop in place.
9. Make sure the velcro is tightly applied to slats- it should not be applied loosely and sagging between slats. Press firmly across the entire surface to eliminate any air bubbles or gaps.
10. Allow exactly 24 hours (48 for even better results) for the adhesive to fully cure * Skipping this step risks velcro detachment * Do not test adhesion during this period.
Cover Installation (After 24-48 Hours):
1. Begin at the far side of the bunk bed
2. Carefully align and attach velcro strips from top to bottom
3. Moving to the near side: * Pull fabric firmly to ensure proper tension * Maintain even pressure while stretching * Systematically secure velcro from top to bottom.

If you do not have wooden slats- you should apply the velcro to the flat metal rail part of the bed. This will provide more surface area for the velcro to adhere to. The bed sheet will need to be pulled a little tighter than normal but should be fine as long as you let the velcro cure for 24-48 hours before adding the bunk sheet.
Our bunk covers are designed for the child lying in the bottom bunk—not for display from across the room. When someone is standing in the room, the underside of the top bunk is usually barely noticeable, just like the slats themselves. The cover becomes visible primarily when your child is lying in bed, giving them a more comfortable and enjoyable view than exposed slats. Because of this, the design doesn’t need to perfectly match the room décor to work beautifully. Most families are surprised by how subtle it looks from the rest of the room—and how much kids love the view from below.
